About
Welcome to Bahar Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Berlin at Hauptstraße 112. This hidden gem offers an authentic taste of Afghan cuisine, characterized by vibrant flavors and generous portions. With a phone number of +49 30 7812833, it's not just a dining spot; it's a culinary experience waiting to unfold.
From the moment you step inside, you're engulfed in an oriental atmosphere that invites you to unwind. The warm hospitality shines through in the service, with staff described as friendly and competent. Regular diners, like Mert, rave about the freshness and deliciousness of the dishes, alongside the rapid service that keeps them coming back.
The menu boasts a variety of dishes that showcase the rich culinary heritage of Afghanistan. Highlights include the renowned Mantu, which has garnered praise for its generous portions and delightful sauce, as well as the Ashak, both lauded by patrons such as John Burgan. The Narenj Pulao features tender lamb that melts in your mouth, though opinions on the overall dining experience have varied. While many celebrate the robust flavors, some reviewers have expressed concern regarding cleanliness, emphasizing the need for consistent attention to hygiene standards.
If you're a fan of kebabs, don't miss the Kobida kebab, noted for its juiciness and superb flavor. However, be prepared for the cash-only payment policy, which can be a drawback for some. While the ambiance may be described as a bit outdated, the fast service on certain occasions adds a redeeming quality to the experience.
In summary, Bahar Restaurant is a promising destination for lovers of Afghan cuisine, despite some inconsistencies. The dishes deliver on taste, particularly the pulao offerings that linger in your memory long after your meal is finished. If they address the highlighted concerns, Bahar could truly solidify its reputation as a must-visit eatery in Berlin.
“ We eat here regularly and we are always extremely satisfied with the food and service. The food is always fresh and delicious. The portions are big and always come fast. The staff is always brilliant, friendly and competent. The atmosphere is oriental and easy to chill. ”
“ Mantu is excellent, generous portions with plenty sauce. Ashak also good. The lamb in the Narenj pillau was tender. The decor is a bit run down, but the service is friendly and overall it’s really good value for money. Worth a try! ”
“ I was excited to try out the food at Bahar Restaurant since I had heard good things, but unfortunately my experience fell short. The Qabuli and Narenji polo tasted pretty good, but my excitement quickly turned to disgust when I found a long strand of hair in my rice and then a fly in the Narenji polo. When I politely alerted the staff, they offered to replace the food, but were dismissive about the fly, blaming it on the window beside my table. However, when I looked over there were literally dozens of flies. It was just dirty. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt that this was just an off day, because the food tasted great. But the staff's apathetic attitude about the unsanitary conditions didn't sit well with me. For a restaurant, cleanliness should be baseline. It's a real shame because the food seems tasty. But with the dirty table, hair and flies... If they fix those issues then Bahar could be a solid option. ”
“ The food was very good and very testy specially kobida kebab was very good and very soft and juicy. The price is very expensive and they don't take card only cash ”
“ The food was good. The lamb in Qabuli pulao was very tender. The Djuje Soltani had well spiced chicken and lamb kebab. Portions are big. Dessert (Makhlut ) we didnot like much. Service is very slow. Be Prepared for a long wait. The decor is very old fashioned with an awkward white chandelior ( we felt warm lights would do better). They denied card payment. Second visit: service was superfast . Food arrived in 10 mins , Zereshk Polo was pretty good with very tender chicken . The fessenjun had hardly any lamb( see picture ) , so we decided to order 2 lamb hackspeises (kubideh) without rice which were decent. I counted the bill according to the prices in the menu , however was charged couple of euros extra. Sheer Unprofessionalism , without giving a break up bill. However they accepted card payment. I can only recommed the pulao dishes ”
“ It is a great place with great authentic food. I cannot believe why it has only 4 stars. This place is 30 out of 20! ”
